Windstorm: Kogi East Stakeholders, Traditional Rulers Applaud Senator Jibrin Echocho Over Intervention

Stakeholders and traditional rulers in Kogi East have commended the Senator representing the district and Chairman, Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff, Distinguished Senator Jibrin Isah (Echocho), for his swift and compassionate intervention in supporting communities recently hit by windstorms and Fulani crisis.

The Senator, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), facilitated the distribution of vital relief materials to residents who lost homes, farmlands, and means of livelihood in the disasters that affected several communities.

Communities impacted by the windstorm include Dekina Town, Akpelu, Iyale, Ajiolo, and Alokoli, while those affected by the Fulani crisis include Aloko Oganenigu, Agojeju, Idochi, and Ebeje Irabò.

The relief materials distributed included bags of rice, maize, cartons of spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning, tomatoes, and sacks of salt, among others. These items were handed over to community representatives for onward delivery to the most vulnerable households, with NEMA officials supervising to ensure transparency and equity.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Dekina local government area, Hon. John Urah Ikani lauded Senator Echocho for always prioritizing the welfare of his constituents. He noted that his consistent support in both good and difficult times was a testament to his genuine commitment to the people. He assured of their continued support to him.

A traditional head, the Amana Onuh Ife, Alhaji Isah Akubo, appreciated the gesture from the Senator, describing it as timely and life-saving. He said Senator Echocho has continued to show that he is pro-people and has always stood by them at all times, noting that the gesture will go a long way to minimize the suffering of victims of the windstorm.

Yahaya Idakwo from Ajiolo also praised Senator Echocho for his humane leadership and for always coming to the aid of the people in times of distress. He described the Senator as a worthy representative and promised their continued support to him.

A beneficiary from Iyale, Mrs Sarah Wada prayed for God’s blessings on the Senator and urged other leaders to emulate his people-centered approach to representation.
