Man Arrested in Lokoja for Fake Bank Transfer While Posing as Military Officer

A man was apprehended today near FMC Lokoja after attempting to defraud an electronics shop through a fake bank transfer.

Eyewitnesses reported that the suspect claimed to have completed payment for goods, but when the transaction could not be verified, suspicions quickly arose.

It was later gathered that the man had been disguising himself as a Nigerian military personnel, a tactic that had helped him evade arrest in the past. He was also linked to previous fraudulent transactions, including one involving ₦1 million and another involving ₦500,000.

The commotion attracted a crowd of onlookers, including commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators. Before the police arrived, the suspect was beaten by members of the public.

As the famous Nigerian proverb says, “Every day is for the thief, but one day is for the owner.” Today, that saying proved true as the suspect was finally handed over to the police for further investigation.

Authorities are urging business owners to remain vigilant and always verify transactions before releasing goods to customers.
