The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Mr Abner Shittu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), winner of the Karim 1 State Constituency by- election in Taraba.
The by- election was conducted as a result of the resignation of Dr Mike Dio-Jen of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is now Taraba state Commissioner for Tertiary Education.
However, PDP was unable to retain the seat in Saturday’s by-election.
According to result declared by Mr Mustapha Sa’ad, Returning Officer for the by- election on Sunday in Karim Lamido, the APC candidate pulled 5,901 to defeat his closest rival, Mr Ali Kanda of the PDP who got 5,527.
Sa’ad also said that Dr Badina Garba of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), polled 2,069 to come a distant third.
“The by-election conducted in five council wards of Karim 1 state constituency saw APC scored the highest number of lawful votes and is hereby, decleared winner and returned elected,” he said.
